Question: In any democratic system, regardless of how few or many parties have seats in the houses of government, shouldn't the parties have the same agenda? Or at least the same abstract goal? If the parties did not, wouldn't they reach political deadlock and not be able to accomplish anything?

Than it isn't democracy than. The parties have to have different goals, so that people can chose from those goals and vote for one of them. If they were all the same, people wouldnt vote, chose whats the point in voting if all the parties are "all the same".

That was an old comment, but anywho...

I think what I meant was that parties should all have the goal of increasing the quality of life of many of their constituents as possible :shrug: I think in a Democracy you are really just choosing which party you think has the policies that will better achieve those goals.
