dissent is your duty by Satansgoalie dissent is your duty by Satansgoalie
Naturally, the common people don't want war. But after all, it is the leaders of a country who determine policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag people along whether it is a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, a parliament or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. This is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifist for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in every country.

"A pacifist is necessary to keep a soldier benign."

That's a reworking of an older quote about atheists and religion...

I think somewhere next to my pituitary gland is my graphic design happiness gland. This piece contains everything that sets it off:

1. limiting the palette to as few colors as possible

2. allowing negative space to speak for you (in the words "patriot's duty")

3. bold but minimalistic use of lines

4. off-kilter angles

So I'm in a happy place right now. :)

we were apathetic before both world wars and millions were lost to people who wanted to take over as much as they could.

must we keep making the same mistake? we wouldn't have the freedom to make such art if we didn't fight to keep it.

the pacifist sets back and lets others die so they can protest. and the soldier dies willingly for the pacifist's freedom.

your art is great btw.

i agree with most everything you said here... don't misunderstand me, i am not a pacifist. i believe that we should have a strong military and use it when ever necessary.

i just have always had a hard time believing what i'm told. i always assume that the government is lying to us. i refuse to be just another sheep in the herd.

anyway, thanks for the nice comment.:)

It's about time you US people have a little bit of revolution, defenestrate the President and all the politician/corporate bullshit government system you have there. Since "everybody" got guns over there anyway, why not just storm DC?

lol! i totally agree!

i love my country but i have to admit we have had some real criminal assholes in power right for a long time now and most people here are too apathetic to do anything about it.

btw, i think guns are illegal in washington d.c. even though our 2nd amendment guarantees the right of every citizen to own one...coincidence? i don't think so.

Good point! I actually forgot that DC don't allow guns.

Have you heard about Emperor Norton I? As far as I can tell, he's the best political person the US never had.

i had an work at school about propaganda and there are 10 easy rules for a government to manipulate the people, written by Bewrtrand Russle in the i think 18th century....

1. We dont want a war. The enemy forces us to go to war.

2. The Enemy has forbidden weapons.

3. the enemy is brutal and sadistic. We just make errors (collateral damage instead of kills)

4. Everyone who isn't behind the government is a non patriotic dissent.

and damn it i forgot the other six, but with just a fwe rules its possible to manipulate the people and send a country to war. So dont trust any damn government. Its just an illussion tht lets s ay 1000 people can rule fair over a Millions of lives.....
