contempt by Satansgoalie contempt by Satansgoalie
I'm sure that when it comes to his family, he is a good husband and father. However when it comes to his perception of the United States of America, his comments lead me to believe that he has nothing but contempt for this country, it's institutions and history.

"...the Constitution is a charter of negative liberties."
[link]

"...We are five days away from fundamentally transforming the United States of America..."
[link]

There are too many statements to list here. These are just the two most obvious ones to me.

*This photograph does not belong to me (obviously). I did not take this picture. I used the liquify filter in photoshop to slightly change his facial features. I added the scowl to his lips, raised the eyebrows and added dark circles under his eyes.

I can't say I agree with your sentiment here, but the design work is excellent.

FYI, "negative liberty" is not meant as a criticism; it is a term with a specific meaning in the realm of political philosophy. See: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Negative…

Yeah, he could be doing a way better job, but I don't think he hates the country- even though he doesn't really seem to like it either.

Nice work! I like how you kept it simple...the best things are the simple ones. And I COMPLETELY agree, he has no respect for the country in which he is in charge of, which is very, very scary.

Ah, well, lets look at his choice of words.

First, there's the word "fundamentally". Fundamental is defined as "an essential component, a basic fact or principles, far-reaching and thoroughgoing in effect. Sounds important huh?
What are some fundamentals of the American experience? Well, there is our Constitution, the Bill of Rights, the rule of law and our belief in the supremacy of individual liberty.

Next, there is the word "transforming". Transform is defined as "to change or alter in form, appearance, or nature; convert"

So when I hear this quote, I hear it as a call to "change or alter essential components and principles of the United States of America."

Now, seeing as how you are not an American you probably don't care or have a problem with this but I sure as hell do!

you're more than right, I am not american and don't care very much. I just entered "contempt" in the search field for some unrelevant reason, I was surely not looking for Obama's pictures.

Nevertheless, I surely know the meaning of "fundamentally" and "transforming", let's see if I got the right meaning of what you wanted to convey reporting that statement. The main element I see in the sentence is a positive one, while I believe you understand it as a negative statement. While I believe there are several facts about USA which are fundamentally wrong and to be changed, you probably don't see those things or you consider them as good things. For instance, while I believe that the American health care system was and still is fundamentally wrong, you probably believe the opposite. When I hear Obama saying that, I am 100% confident that he is talking about such kind of odd things you have in USA, not about mining individual freedom.

When I hear him talking I recognize the speech of a free man, unlike the previous American president which had the face of the man who doesn't even know what he is talking about, he just knew he had to say something which was convenient for him. And if he's going to transform America in those respects, he has my admiration and I believe there is nothing you Americans have to fear about.

What's both sad and funny, is if he didn't hit the afterburners nobody would have noticed. Americans by in large were that apathetic about government. The sleeping giant and dragon would have not stirred, and he would have been able to get nearly everything he wants. But no, he genuinely believed that a plurality agreed with his most radical beliefs... forgetting about us out here in flyover country especially.

Now, I think, it's possible if something doesn't go horribly wrong (as in certain bills pass) in the next 12 months or so, he won't get any of it and ensure that it never happens. Then watch himself frame himself as a hero of the republic for setting the precedent to safe guard us from his own radicalism.

I think both parties are equally corrupt.
Each has pros and cons, the people are too
busy ripping each other apart to realize that.
Kind of like picking a favorite sports team.

I agree with you, voting is wishful thinking.

Although I agree with the assertion that modern politics is fucked, I would have to agree more strongly with the modern day philosopher, Lewis Black. “A republican stands up in congress and says 'I GOT A REALLY BAD IDEA!!' and the democrat stands up after him and says 'AND I CAN MAKE IT SHITTIER!!'”

As far as the current corruption goes, give mister Bill Whittle a look at PJTV. He puts a finger on some of this shit.

Black on Broadway was one of the most intelligent
stand up specials I've ever seen. I am a Lewis Black
fan for sure. He's right about nearly everything, it's
interesting. I'll have to take a deeper gander into
what Bill Whittle has to say.

YOUR WORK IN GENERAL IS TIGHT AND REPRESENTS A CLASSY STYLE. THIS PIECE THOUGH, IS A WASTE OF SPACE. POLITCAL SATIRE IS COMMON PLACE AND NO POLITIAN IS ABOVE IT. BUT YOUR BELIEF IS WAY OFF. WE LIVE IN TWO DIFFERENT AMERICAS MY FRIEND. TO YOU, THE FOREFATHERS OF THIS GREAT COUNRTY WERE ADMIRABLE LEADERS. TO ME, THEY WERE HYPOCRITAL SLAVE OWNERS AND RAPIST. YOU CAN LOVE THIS COUNTRY, AS I DO, AND TO ACKNOWLEDGE OUR SCARS IS TO START THE HEALING PROCESS. TO CONFUSE THAT WITH CONTEMPT IS SIMPLY FOOLISH.

To dwell on the past that we can not change is also foolish - move past it since you have acknowledged it. The people who have not yet seen through the thick cloud of ego are the ones to blast.

He wouldn't be the first to hold contempt for his own nation. If it weren't for his glimmer of hope, America would be one of the most despised nations on earth. I don't HATE America, but I don't hold it at a very high level either.

All I can say about this poster is just like when George Bush was in power, all the propaganda posters that were created just formed one big unoriginal blur. I see nothing original or terribly creative about this poster, it just sticks to all the cliches of political propaganda which makes me feel nothing but the desire to close the window and move onto something more interesting to me. A plain (grizzly) face and simple typography doesn't do much for me I'm sorry.

Normally I wouldn't bother posting such "negative" opinions on a subject matter, or a submission, but it's fairly obvious this peace is intended to be mainly opinionated, and just like most artists, I presume the piece is intended to gain a reaction, so I felt inclined to share my opinion on it.

It has a bit, but considering Australia has been pushed into America's affairs it's not surprising (Bush and Howard when they were in power were pretty much bum chums... Interesting considering how against they were both against gay marriage). America seemingly trying to turn Australia into a mini America... Well, when Bush was in power anyway...

And it seems to me that your saying how Australia has fallen based on the comments of an individual that sees differently to your opinion. Almost as like if we don't worship your country, then we are seen traitors. Because America is the most powerful, best country in the world right?
Meh.

From day one, I've got this vibe that Obama had a mission to make sure his "brothers" (no ebonic pun intended) were made well off by his time in office. It's as if he sees that a lot of the poor, uneducated Americans are black, and he has every intention of making sure they find themselves in a better situation. I'm REALLY not trying to make it about race, but when it comes to that, it seems he fired the first shot during his campaign anyways. I wonder if maybe in his struggle to make his way to where he is now, he was told he wouldn't make it cause he was black....or whatever he is. Possibly that's where he got all his bitterness for America. Now it's almost as if he's hell-bent on making sure the poor receive every benefit that the rich have, whether they've earned it or not. From wealth-distribution to force feeding kids more education through longer school days and shorter summers, it's pretty hard not to assume "who" he's trying to benefit through all this....
